Curious Enlightenment :: What Does it Mean?

I’m not sure if this is common or even needed, but I feel a bit obligated to explain some back story before I get this blog officially rolling. For the most part, this blog will be your typical online journal and collection of recipes, DIY ideas, parenting discussions, inspiration, and random thoughts. BUT, my views have become different to cultural norms, in my opinion.

I am not religious. I do not have a political party. I am beginning a journey into less processed foods. I am open to any and all religious beliefs, affiliations, lifestyles, and choices…as long as they are in line with MY morality and standards. I know my right from wrong, and I believe in justice. I do not judge others, but rather look at all interactions as a learning experience. I wasn’t always like this. And this is relatively new to me, so y’all will be witnesses to this journey. Please do not judge my lack of beliefs or opinions. This is a nonjudgmental blog. I adhere to this policy above all else.

First, some definitions:

  1. Curious ~ adjective
    1. eager to learn or know; inquisitive
    2. arousing or exciting speculation, interest, or attention through being inexplicable or highly unusual; odd; strange
  2. Enlighten ~ verb (used with object)
    1. to give intellectual or spiritual light to; instruct; impart knowledge to
  3. Age of Reason (Enlightenment) ~ a philosophical movement in the 18th Century
    1. belief in the power of human reason and by innovations in religious, political, and educational doctrine
  4. Morality ~ noun
    1. conformity to the rules of right conduct
    2. a doctrine or system of morals

I know it is very difficult to get a read on people over the Internet. Hell, it’s getting hard to get to know people face-to-face as well. I will tell you this. My morals are very good. That is all I can really say. I have a strong sense of right from wrong. I am attending school to become a counselor, so I am obtaining formal training in being unbiased in opinions. I know it’s hard, but take this as a sign of my good character and morals. If you can accept this, then you can accept the fact that I’m not religious. I have my own personal views on the subject. Personal. Maybe one day I will share my thoughts, but for now I’m still in the learning and exploring phase, so I need to truly find my voice.

Other than that, this page, Curious Enlightenment, means I am eager to learn new things and I will impart my learned knowledge onto all of you. As I enlighten myself, I too shall enlighten you.

We can all do with a little bit of enlightenment…and curiosity. If you have any questions, shoot me a message or email.

Ok, so now that the serious stuff is out of the way lets get down to the general overview.

Blog Topics

Topic 1 ~ Recipes

This one is kind of a “duh” one for me. I love to cook and I love to make fresh homemade (from scratch) bread. We are a family of four living off of one income so my recipes tend to be low-cost, healthy, nutritious, and kid/picky husband approved! Bread, entrees, snacks, breakfast, sides, and everything in between.

Topic 2 ~ DIY

You can thank Pinterest for this one. I’m pretty sure by now EVERYONE has heard of it and at least tried it. Maybe not, but I bet most of you have. I have done quite a few projects already and I’ve almost perfected them so once I’m 100% positive in my ability to completely understand it, I will share my knowledge! Gift ideas, kid’s crafts, around the house activities, and re-purposing furniture, canvases, and so much MORE!

Topic 3 ~  Parenting

As a parent, I feel it is my obligation to give my multiple “oops” accounts of parenting, scares, surprises, and joys of having children. I have an 8 year old girl and a 2 year old boy so my experience is far and widely tailored. I’ve dealt with speech delays, young parenting, poverty, and potty training problems! Completely open to all types and styles of parents.

Topic 4 ~ Inspiration

This topic may be less accepted, especially for religious folks. Again, I am not religious, but that does not mean I cannot express words of wisdom, insight, inspiration, and enlightenment. I am not perfect. No one is. So either feel free to join me on my journey and maybe you will become enlightened yourself, or skip over these posts and focus on the other good things I write about!!

Topic 5 ~ What’s Going On-isms

This is the place for the weird, cool, out-of-the-box, random thoughts and facts I may come across or think of. Full of humor, WTF moments, WOW facts, and many more interesting topics.

Rules & Standards

  1. No judging. Period. You don’t know me, and I don’t know you. Think the BEST of people.
  2. No name calling. You will be removed.
  3. Link back to my post if you use ANY of my images, ideas, recipes, whatever!
  4. Leave good, uplifting, insightful comments.
  5. Approach this blog with a completely open mind. If you don’t, please remove yourself.

That about sums it up for right now. This is MY personal blog that I have taken the time to create. I will post what I want, when I want to. But I promise it will be posts you will enjoy.

Whew, thank gosh we are done with that drill sergeant crap. I just plan on getting this blog out there and making it into something big. Once I start my professional job as a counselor, my blog will reflect that, but for now, enjoy a wide variety of posts that will make your mouth drool, make you laugh, make you cry, but above all else, make YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF.

Because if I can do it, ANYONE can!

A New Name, A New Blog

Well, this is my third blog I’ve started in the past year. The first one was purely experimental. I wrote on weird, paranormal, and unique topics. It was fun writing the information, but my followers were…weird and FANATICS. It actually scared me a little with how passionate and forceful some of the followers were, so I shut that blog down after 2-3 months. The second blog was a Housewife/Recipe blog. Right after that first blogging fiasco I read an article about “tuning into your passions.” It said to find one or two main passions and JUST focus on those areas for the blog. Now, the second blog did fairly well and I may keep it active, but I got SO bored only talking about housewife duties and recipes. I am a writer. I like to write about what comes to my mind at that very moment. Having to limit my inspiration and dedication to two main areas almost made me hate blogging.

I know, I KNOW!!!! How could I ever hate blogging? Well, it happened. I actually took about 5 weeks off from blogging to try to figure out my next step. And do you know what’s been happening over the past 5 weeks? Stories upon stories of racism, terrorists, unemployment, rioting, and so much more HATRED than I’ve ever seen. Not the best time to “step back and smell the flowers,” if you ask me. But I did it, and I think I may have found my third, and FINAL blog. If this one doesn’t make it. I’m done.

Third time’s a charm, right?!?!

And don’t worry. This isn’t about politics, or opinions, or racism, or hate. This is about peace, and love, and inspiration, and innovation, and parenting, and good food. I may even throw in a few humor pages and weird facts and stories. I will be writing a more detailed post about what to expect from this blog. So sit back, and have some Curious Enlightenment.
